Shadow settings

In this form, you can specify parameters for applying drop shadow effect on some shape. There are three possibilities of shadow effect:

  • No shadow - default option, no shadowing is performed.
  • Drop shadow - apply shadow after some shape is drawn.
  • Drop shadow with dark border on shape - apply drop shadow and darken the borders around the shape.

X and Y offset
are used to specify direction and amount of shadow displacement from original shape.

Blur kernel
is used to specify (when checked) size of blur kernel, ie. amount of dispersion of shadow attached to some shape.

Shadow color
is used to specify shadow color. By default, shadow color is black. Clicking on this color rectangle, color dialog appears. You can select any color desired.

Shadow capacity
slider is used to specify amount of shadow capacity. Smaller amount gives higher shadow transparency.

Applying Drop Shadow
When some shadowing is checked, after drawing some shape (after releasing left mouse button), shadow is drawn according to parameters specified in this form.

Shadow simply follows the shape as well as rotated text. If shape is blured , shadow is also blured. If shape is drawn with fall-off brush, shadow also has fall-off effect.
Additional bluring can be specify by checking blur kernel and specifying the amount of shadow dispersion.

By checking No shadow radio button, shadow effect is turned off.

Default button resets shadow settings to No shadow, blur kernel is unchecked and value is set to 3.
X offset and Y offset are set to value of 4. Capacity is set to 100 and shadow color is set to black.
