Retouch Tools are designed for hand retouching of image and for obtaining various painting effects from particular image. Using automatic brushing together with clipping contour you can create many interesting painting effects without single brush movement. |

![]() ![]() A list of tools sutable for automatic brushing: 1. Spread 2. Higher 3. Lower 4. Equalize 5. Burn 6. Push 7. Smudge 8. Bump |
Soften method uses linear 3x3 Filter for hand smoothing. Sharpen method uses linear 3x3 Filter for hand sharpening. Lighten method uses positive brightness RGB adjustment. Strength of action depends on brush capacity. Darken method applies negative brightness RGB adjustment. Strength of action depends on brush capacity.
Higher
method takes pixel color at starting cursor position, and performs action described in
drawing section, except that all calculation is performed with
current color instead of foreground color. Lower method is similar to above method. It is also described in Drawing section. Spread method takes pixel color at starting cursor position and spreads it in the direction of movement. This action is similar to normal drawing method, except that cursor starting color is used instead of foreground color.
Stretch method uses color stretching RGB adjustment. Strength of action depends on brush capacity. Squeeze method uses negative color stretching RGB adjustment (color squeezing). Strength of action depends on brush capacity. Equalize method takes pixel at starting cursor position and performs equalization action described inf drawing section. Burn method takes pixel at starting cursor position and performs burning action described inf drawing section. Gray method performs grayscale converting. Strength depends on brush capacity. Negative method performs pixels inversion. Amount of inversion depends on brush capacity. Intensity method takes pixel color at starting cursor position, and performs action described in drawing section. Bump method simply bumps image if brush has bump option on. This method actually bevels the porion of image passed by some brush. Push method smoothly copies (clones) the circular area of image where retouch movement has started. Smudge method performs linear warping under mask created by some brush movement. |
Also, you can apply retouch effects through mask by clicking on mask button on the bottom toolbar section. You'll notice three checkboxes at the bottom of control panel. Checkbox FixedColor, checkbox Watch and checkbox Wrap FH.
Watch
checkbox has meaning only while performing automatic brushing retouch action.
If Watch is checked, every single brush movement perform is show on the screen.
Because, image is refreshed after every stroke, checking Watch can seriously increase
autobrush performing time. It is recommanded to use this option only on small images. FixedColor checkbox is used to specify if the color, picked at starting cursor position is changed in mouse movement or not. If FixedColor is checked, color picked at starting cursor is never changed, no matter of mouse movement. If FixedColor is unchecked, color is picked at current cursor position. Current cursor position depends on how fast mouse movements are applied. Wrap FH check box is used when you want that your free hand retouching wraps around the image when cursor passes the image border. This option is very useful when creating seamless patterns used in tilled backgrounds. When this option is checked, wraping occures. For some methods, wrapping does not occure, regardless of check box setting: push, smudge.
